Tournament Screw Up

My partner goridersgo and I entered the 10 pm tourney on Nov 7. Once the schedule was displayed, we went to join the host table ( the host was score), and score had started the game already before we sat at the table. Then he exited the table, then started the game again. We tried to join the table again after he started the table, but we couldn't join in. The standings showed us with a win and him eliminated. We were in the lobby waiting for the next schedule, when it booted us out saying we were eliminated from the tourney. Then after it was all said and done, he won the tourney. Can anyone tell me why this happened and what the official rules are for starting a game before all players are at the table, and why we got booted out of tourney when it showed us with a win.
