Title: Volunteer Testing
Post by: K.C. Magic Data on April 22, 2016, 05:18:47 PM
I am looking for people who would like to test a special version of Kaiser that will hopefully  help me track down the Tournament disconnects.

It would be beneficial if you had some computer skills so that you could install and uninstall Kaiser as needed along with communications to send data back n forth to me from a log file that Kaiser will create.

And of course be someone that experiences disconnects from Tournaments otherwise it won't help.
Right now I'm just look for names so email me at kevin@kaisergame.com and let me know if your interested.

I will send players a modified version of Kaiser that will track the disconnection as well as try and prevent it.
When ready i will also post the links to downloads in this Thread Topic

Thanks

Ty... your the first... lol i guess the Tournament disconnects are not that bad after all.

I will eventually post a link here to download a manual install. It will be very easy.

Ive changed some code to try and prevent disconnects and also improved the reconnect atempt. I have tested it myself and it works great. Im hoping this will be the answer to preventing them but if it isnt then there is an option built in that allows an error log to be sent to me so i can determine what happened.

The Test version is ready for download. The link will be provided by itself in my next posting. Please read the following and it will explain what to do:

Make sure Kaiser is closed before starting. It cant be updated if the program is open.
The file you download to install is called KNtest.msi  It is a Microsoft Installer that will install this test update to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaiser Network\"
If you installed Kaiser Network in any location other than the above then make the change during install.

If you see any Windows Security Warnings you can read them but you will need to press Yes to continue.

You will know its installed because there is a "Test Version" indicated in the Title Bars

If you want to undo or switch back then you can Press Help at the Login screen and choose Manual Update.

As far as what changes were made:

I have attempted to prevent Tournament Disconnects, so if it works then you wont see any problems.
If you are improperly disconnected from a Tournament then the auto Reconnect attempts are improved and should go seamlessly.
if you are disconnected from a Tournament then the game will record a errorlog file. You will be asked to send that errorlog to me at some point, so be sure to press Yes when you see the message below.

Room disconnections are not what this is referring to.
