Title: the whole site is ridiculously slow
Post by: foreveryoung on September 14, 2009, 10:47:43 PM
OMG Kevin!!!!  I have a lot o patience but this has even sent me over the edge.  The 8pm tourney finished after the 10 pm tourney started tonight.  The site has been slow all day but seems to be much worse tonight.  I finally quit the 10 pm tourney cause by 10:34 we had finally finished the second hand of the first game.

OMG!!!! I cant believe how many times over and over and over and here we go again over and over i have to explain that the Server does not control the speed of the games played nor do I.

What people do not understand is that when a game is hosted and a player joins a room it has nothing to do with the Server unless the Host used Server Host. If they did not then the room is Hosted by by the hosts computer and all information is transfered over their internet and yours. The Server is just a means traffic cop on where everyone is and what their scores are but does not influence speed of any game. When you play a card
it is sent to the host then to all players to show. The server never ever sees this or plays any part in this. The HOST does.

I have no control over the speed of the tournaments. I had time delays added at the begginning and the hate mail i got for that was brutal so i removed them.

All players have the same rules to follow and time limits to join a tournament room. They are limited to 10 hands or 52 points.
If all players followed the rules laid out at the start they would not go 1 hour extra.

My only choice is to abandon the Tournaments and not have them any more because when they malfunction the complaints to me are through the roof.

This had nothing to do with just the tournaments, people not folowing the rules or not server hosting.  everyone and everything was incredibly slow.  And I'm sorry but I thought you were wanting to know when things weren't going smoothly, but i don't need to get my head chewed off when I inform you about problems.

Sorry im just venting like everyone else does when something goes wrong. :-\

When i see !!!!! i assume im being yelled at.

Was it both tournaments or just the first 1?

When in the lobby was the text in the lobby chat showing slowly as well for everyone?

There are 730 tournaments a year and some of them are bound to be screwed up.

Sorry Kevin, !!!! was just my frustration.  I love kaiser and I love this site.  First off, it was both tournaments but also in plain old regular games (everyones tables). As far as the lobby chat during the tourney, I think it may have been slow showing up b/c a few people would retype their chat in cause they didnt see it go up right away.  I very rarely use the main chat in the lobby of the regular kaiser, so I can't help you there.  Hope tis helps cause there were a lot of frustrated peole last night.

Site was slow for 8 am tourney.  First round, it took one table over 45 min to do 10 hands, and it seemed many tables were slow.  Just sayin... :)
Does the server maybe need a reboot?

I wasnt aware we had an AM tournament so ill have to check into that one but the 8 PM might be from Internet congestion on my end. But technically this should only affect "Server Host" game as they rely on my server and the speed of my internet. I have the fastest internet available for home use.

The server motherboard has swelled capacitors and im working on rebuilding the Server .
